Split Pea Soup

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb dried, green split peas
  • 2 quarts water
  • 3 carrots, finely diced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 1/4 large onion or 4 green onions, diced
  • 1/2 pound sliced smoked sausage, browned first if desired
  • seasoned salt, garlic powder & pepper to taste


1) Bring water to boiling, add washed split peas and smoked sausage.  Simmer about 1 hour.
2) Add carrots, celery & onions, simmer another hour or until thickened.
  
Serve in bread soup bowls with additional bread.
